The second annual Hull PTO Color Run took place Aug. 24.
HULL — Colorful powder hung in the air around Hull on Saturday morning as hundreds of people came out to the streets for the town’s second-annual color run.
The run was organized by the Hull Parent Teacher Organization, which raised about $11,000 on the day according to the event’s co-chairs, Kelly Johnson and Renee Kiley. Participants could choose between a one-mile or a 5K course, and no one was timed.
Runners and walkers of all ages came from all over New England, Kiley said. After crossing the finish line on Spring Street, where runners were doused with pastel pink, blue and yellow powders, participants grabbed bagels and fruit and the youngest took on a bouncy castle and headed for a nearby playground.
“I think it’s great this year. We’re really happy with it,” Kiley said. “The goal is just a fun fundraiser for the schools.”
Jen Fleming, of Hull, was cooling off in the shade after finishing the course with her husband, Mike, and their 12-year-old daughter, Veronica. They were coated in colorful powder and finishing some bananas. Jen Fleming said they came out to last year’s run, too.
“I think it’s great. In Hull we all stick around for the summer and this gets us outside,” she said. “We’ll go to the beach later.”
Nicoletta Dennett, also of Hull, had just finished the course with her 4-year-old son, Mickey, who was wearing a pair of green goggles for eye protection.

“It was awesome,” Nicoletta Dennett said of the course. She motioned down to her son. “He’s going to be 5 years old soon, and he did the whole 5K.”
